Middletown NAACP at Lobby Day in Albany 2025

Representatives from NAACP Middletown and Northern Duchess Branches with State Senator Rob Rolison in Albany on Lobby Day 2025
On Tuesday, March 4, Middletown NAACP members joined others from NAACP branches across the state in Albany to lobby our elected officials to support the NAACP New York State Conference’s 2025 Legislative Agenda. We met with five officials who represent constituents in our service area: State Senators James Skoufis and Rob Rolison and Assembly Members Chris Eakins, Paula Elaine Kay, and Karl Brabanec, and urged them to uphold the priorities in the NAACP’s New York State Legislative Agenda for 2025.
We were joined in our meeting with Rob Rolinson by members of the NAACP Northern Duchess Branch, which includes Poughkeepsie.
The NAACP’s 2025 Legislative Agenda for New York includes (among other priorities) protecting our students from suspensions and removals from school, and advancing equitable hiring of teachers and school administrators; expanding voting rights with automatic registration and ballot access for eligible voters held in pre-trial detention, capping health care costs for routine services, and prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products like menthol, which are aggressively marketed to Black and brown communities and trap our children into a lifetime of addiction.
